I have to be honest here, I hardly remember Ulik from the Thor comics. Sure, he was there as hammer bait a lot if I remember correctly, but under normal circumstances I’m not sure I would have picked up this model.

But he came with Beta Ray Bill…

Also, the model is just plain bad-ass. Yeah, he’s a giant beat-stick looking for a good solid smack, but isn’t that what trolls are for? He looks amazing!

I am really happy with the metalic green armor scales, I used diluted green ink over silver and it did exactly what I was hoping! This was a really fun model to paint!
Excellent work on Ulik, this model highlights for me how out of touch with Marvel Comics I am, as I had no idea who this character was ! LOL I do like what you achieved with your metallic green effect, and the flesh tones look good.

Thank you, Dave! He’s one of those obscure as hell characters that I barely even know, and I’ve been reading those comics for over 40 years, hahahaha!

I don’t know Ulik either but its a cool miniature that reminds me of the Thunder Cats and cartoons of that era which I was just a little too young to be into. You did really well painting him up as the armor looks fantastic, as does his face!

Nice work! I’d never heard of Ulik either but he’s a pretty fun baddy to have in the game. And as you say, in the comics his main job was to get punched by Thor in the name of some nefarious scheme.

You’re absolutely right! He’s like the Wrecking Crew in Spider-Man… kinda stupid, but fun to watch get beat to a pulp!

Haha, yes. The nature of comics is that some baddies are only there to let you see how cool the heroes are.
