Marvel Zombies: She-Hulk

I have had a long history with She-Hulk. I really loved the Hulk when I was a kid, which is probably why I love orcs. Big, Green, and Dumb is a default source of joy for me!

I was about eight years old when the first She-Hulk comics came out, and I liked them, but I didn’t get the humor because I was freaking eight years old. As I got older, she became pretty entertaining to read, and as an adult, she became a bit of a favorite.

Turns out Big, Green, and Smart is pretty fun, too!

I even enjoyed the MCU She-Hulk series on Disney+, but that’s not surprising. As most people who grew up with The Trial of the Incredible Hulk as the closest thing to cool live action super heroes will tell you, we’re a bit spoiled right now, and there’s some pretty good stuff being sent our way. Also, I’m easily entertained!

The She-Hulk sculpt from CMON’s Marvel Zombies game is pretty dynamic, and easily captures her in a heroic pose, getting ready to punch some shambler into paste! I’m happy to add her to the ranks of finished models, and it’ll be cool seeing an A-Force team pop up as I get more Avengers models finished!

Marvel Zombies: Groot! Groot! Groot!

I love Groot! His miniature from Marvel Crisis Protocol is pretty sweet, but alas, I don’t have a personal aircraft hangar to store MCP figs, so I’ll have to do with these Marvel Zombies figs from Zombicide.

It’s a pretty solid sculpt, with plenty of room to play with tints and really break away from the monotony of painting a guy made of wood.

Here he is with Drax, the galaxy’s greatest saxaphone player!

Marvel Zombies: The Human Torch

Trying to catch up on my backlog, and I swear I would get through it if I would just stop buying more miniatures

But we all know that isn’t happening, so I’m just going to put my nose to the grindstone and hope to at least make a dent!

I started the Fantastic Four figures from CMON’s Marvel Zombies version of Zombicide back in the spring of 2024, and it’s been slow progress, as shaky health and other, far more distracting miniatures jockey for favor with my attention span.

The Human Torch is next off the list, I’m not as happy with this outcome as I would like to be, fire is just tricky when it’s the whole damned figure. Still, it works, and I’m sure I’ll stop being as critical of it when I get more distance from the monotony of painting it.

He does look pretty sweet posed with the Thing, though! I’m not sure if it’s still canon with the Fantastic Four, but it was revealed in the early 2000’s that Ben’s nemesis, the Yancy Street Gang, was Johnny Storm just pulling pranks the whole time. I hope in my heart of hearts that is still the case!

Marvel Zombies: Drax the Destroyer

Still playing catch-up on the never-ending mass of miniatures from the Marvel Zombies Zombicide game from CMON! Today it’s all about Drax. Or Mr. Destroyer, if you’re feeling fancy.

I’m pretty consistently surprised with the quality of these figures from CMON, considering the first Zombicide minis I painted were not the best of experiences!

Also, I LOVE that these miniatures have base details already. That’s a really great addition that goes a long way towards selling the mood of the game!

I still haven’t played a game of Zombicide, but it could happen. Regardless, I’m happy to have these around for any super-hero action that might come along!

Marvel Zombies: The Sandman

I’m an absolute dork for the stupid-ass villains that plague Spider-Man’s life. The dumber, the better. It’s a real testament to the design genius of the old Marvel art stable that these guys still resonate with me half a century after I discovered them as a kid!

Sandman will be kicking off my collection of Spider foes from the Marvel Zombies Zombicide game from CMON. I’m really digging the added sand work on the base, he was a lot of fun to paint!

Next up on the Spider-foes docket is the Scorpion!

Zombicide: Green Horde is Here!

I came home today with a surprise on my stoop, a whole bunch of new Frostgrave figures!  ORC ZOMBIES!!! WOOHOO!!!

Okay, first things first: Cool Mini or Not is NOT messing around. This campaign wrapped just a couple of months back, and having the core box in hand this early was a bit of a treat. The main box looks great, nice and sturdy, too. Inside, there is another box with the real goodies tucked away…

The top tray has the hero figs, a trebuchet, the stat card holders, dice, pegs, and one of each zombie type with their Orcish Necromancer. The tray underneath? How about another 54 zombies? Hehehehe…

The heroes look great, too, with a lot of cool characters that will most likely find their way onto my Frostgrave table. That dwarf, for instance, doesn’t even know he was the missing piece in my dwarven warband. Speaking of Frostgrave…

ZOMBIES! Okay, I KNOW the board game is supposed to be cool as hell. I can’t wait to get in to it and play a few scenarios. I’ll even open up the components and do another post showing off the non-mini coolness that’s in the big box. But these zombies in Frostgrave? Oh, man. I cannot wait. Just having some different shufflers to put on the board makes me goofy in the goomba.

This is only the first wave, too. The next wave ships later in the year and has giants, more heroes, and more baddies. As Kickstarter campaigns go, this was a solid win.
